Outview Film Festival is Athens’
International Queer Film Festival.
The festival began in 2007 and its goal is to bring the audience of Athens into contact with queer films that portray the difficulties people with a different sexual orientation face and the similarities that all people share despite their sexual orientation.The festival prides itself with its first screenings, worldwide premieres and the overall quality which place it in the top position with other Queer Film Festivals all over the world.
Guests over the years have included:
Thom Fitzgerald, Eytan Fox, Sarah Waters, Tomer Heymann, Wieland Speck, Fereshteh Taerpour, Uriel Yekutiel, Panos Koutras, Constantinos Yannaris, Christos Dimas, Panayotis Evangelidis, Fotis Sergoulopoulos, Themis Mpazaka and many more. This year especially Stephen Fry, during his stay in Athens, came by the festival to pay his respects.
Many successful queer events with international guests such Uriel Yekutiel and Talula Bonnet have been done during the festival as well as art exhibitions with some of the most recognized and acclaimed artists of Athens and award ceremonies with live performances by some of the most widely regarded performers of Greece such as Natassa Bofiliou, Marietta Fafouti and many others.
Over the years the festival has been embraced by many people, 3.500 – 4.000 tickets sold per festival, and enjoys the support of many institutions such as Goethe Institut, Institut Francais, Instituto Cervantes, the Israeli Embassy and many more. The festival also enjoys a full media coverage with Athens’ top selling magazine guide (Athinorama) and the widest free press in circulation (Lifo) as its media sponsors among others.
